Old Baker Farm 2011

This morning we took Brantley to Old Baker Farm in Harpersville, AL. We went last year so now it's going to be a annual trip from now on. (Next year we'll have an extra family member!) I really don't have much time to type a whole lot about our trip out there so here are our pictures.

BR really liked the chickens this year. We also saw the baby calf's but she wasn't nearly as interested in them.

The fields of cotton waiting to be picked were so pretty. We didn't take Brantley in to pick any, I figured next year will be better for that.

While we ate lunch we sat and listened to this great band. I just love the fiddle!!

BR was tuckered out on the way home. She even slept a little when we got home. I was so surprised!!!

Brantley Has an Announcement...

Yep, I'm pregnant!!!

 

We are so very excited about this news that I just can't wait any longer to share. Not only are we super excited but I'm already showing so I can't hide this little one much longer. haha

This is our little Peanut at 8 weeks, 2 days gestation. My due date is May 25th but my doctor says I'll most likely have the baby before then. :) 

So that's our exciting news!! Happy Birthday to me!!! (My b'day is tomorrow)

Race for the Cure

This year was the first year that I have ever participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. I have wanted to in the past but didn't have a team to join. This year I had to opportunity to join our friends, the Mason's, on their Mason Music Studios team.

 Brantley and her friend, Alice, got to ride in the double stroller during the race and for the most part they did pretty good.

I was so amazed at how many people were there to support research for a cure for breast cancer. It made me tear up a little okay a lot, as I realized just how many people/families this terrible disease has hurt. And then it made me tear up with joy to see so many PINK survivor shirts being worn proudly by the ladies who have beat this disease, as they paraded around the streets of downtown Birmingham. It was truly touching and I will never forget that!

 As long as we kept drinks or snacks in their hands they were okay but if they ran out or the sun got in their eyes, they weren't all that happy. Troopers!!

 Sarah heard that their were something like 16,000 people signed up to run/walk in the race! That's wonderful!!  I don't doubt that number at all. Do you see all that sea of people out in front or us?! AMAZING!!

  I'm so glad I was able to participate this year and I hope to do it over and over again in the years to come. Next time I will wear a pink sign on my back in memory of Chase's mom, Donna Williamson.

My Big Fat Belly - 8 weeks

How am I feeling this week (symptoms): I've been more tired this week and a little more yucky feeling at times, but thankfully no sickness. My major complaint is that I burp ALL the time pretty much. And I'm not talking about little blenches, I'm talking contest winning burps and I can't help it or do anything to make them stop. If anyone has suggestions on this matter please let me know. Thanks!

What am I looking forward to: Starting to look more pregnant than just fat. I'm at that in between stage where the belly isn't big enough to look like I'm pregnant, instead I just look like I have been kicking back LOTS of beers. Not attractive!!! I'm also ready for our next ultrasound and the next time I get to hear the heart beat. I should be able to hear the heart beat via Doppler at my next appointment on Halloween. Yay!!

The baby is the size of a Raspberry this week!

Now he/she weighs in at about .04 ounces and measures about .63 inches. This week, she's growing about a millimeter each day.

Baby's developments at 8 weeks:

• You can't feel it yet, but she's moving those arms and legs like crazy!
• Her fingers and toes are now only slightly webbed, and her tail is gone.
• Fun fact: your baby's taste buds are now forming.

Little Peanut is growing fast and right on track. We went to our first doctor's appointment on Friday morning and it went great. Peanut's heart rate was 169bpm and he/she measured 8 weeks 2 days. My doctor has set my due date at May 25th but she's pretty sure I'll deliver early since I delivered BR a week early and this is my second baby. Yay!! I would love to have the same delivery that I had with BR to happen again. It was super easy and I am truly thankful for that.

So now it's really real!! We've seen the baby and heard the heart beat. I've got a baby on board!!! My doctor said that the miscarriage rate at this point is only about 3 % so hopefully that will not happen to this sweet baby. Please pray with us that the baby continues to develop just as it should into a healthy bundle of joy!!

First Ultrasound

The baby measured 8 weeks, 2 days and the doctor said he/she looked great. Yay! In the picture, the head is up top and you can see little arms and legs starting to grow out from the tiny body. At this point the baby still has a little tail that will be gone by next week, I think. They baby is about the size of a kidney bean or a medium raspberry this week. Little peanuts heart rate was 169bpm, which is very good!!! So we have a healthy baby on the way!!

Trying On Your Last Name

I wanted to share this video with all of you because Lauryn Taylor Bach is amazing! I've known her since she was 5 and I'm so proud of her following her dreams. I'm so happy to see them starting to come true!! She gives full glory to God for her talent and success and that makes me happy as well. She is a wonderful young lady and an extremely talented singer/song-writer.

Trying On Your Last Name is an original song written by LTB and I think it's wonderful. I remember doing this in high school and college so many times and I know lots of other girls did as well.

BR at 20 Months

Brantley Rae at 20 Months Old

Weight: 21 lbs

Height: Not sure

Clothes: She keeps getting taller but not much heavier. She is now needing 9-12 month waist in her pants and 18 month length. I'm going to be making all of her pants for the winter because you can't buy that size at the store. (and No, adjustable waist pants still don't fit her) She is wearing 18 month shirts and dresses with leggings.

Brantley is really into coloring these days and baby dolls. She is starting to name some of the colors and she can count to 10 but not all by herself yet. She can point out orange and blue best but she also knows pink, green and yellow.

She is talking so much these days! She is really starting to combine 2-3 words when she's talking. It's so cool to watch her grow and learn. One of the other moms and school heard her talking this afternoon and commented on how well she is talking for 20 months. I smiled and said Thank you! i've got 1 smart cookie!!

OH and guess what..... Brantley made it through the whole school day without her pacy!!!! I'm so excited!! I want to ween her from it REALLY bad but I'm too much of a softy to go cold turkey. So for now (we started last Friday), she can only have pacy at nap and bedtime or if she gets really hurt (thankfully that hasn't happened).

Her hair is really getting long but because it's still so curly you still can't tell. We sorta thought that as her hair started to grow out it would be straighter and just curly at the ends, but that's not the case. Her hair just keeps getting curlier, which I happen to love!! I can't picture what she would look like with straight hair. Anyways....

Brantley is in LOVE with all her shoes. Lining them up on the floor and trying each pair on can keep her entertained for much longer than I ever would've expected. Most of these are hand me down or consignment and are still a little big but she doesn't care, that just makes them a little easier to put on and take off. The boots are new and we both love them!

So our little munchkin is just growing up. It's so fun to watch her change and learn new things. We're going to the beach this weekend so I'll be back with a post about that next week. I'm not sure that I'll post again before that but we'll see! I hope everyone has a great week!!
