Noccalula Falls Park

Last Sunday, Chase and I decided to take a trip up to Noccalula Falls Park in Gadsden, AL. I used to go there as a child with my grandparents and parents. It has always been a really neat place to visit. Actually, it's much cooler now than it was back in the day, because they have added an animal section. Some of the animals you can pet but most of them are inside fences.
There are lots of old buildings that were built back in the 1800's and brought to the park from all over Alabama. I love seeing the way things/buildings were made back then.

This is the inside of the Old Country Store. I can't imagine living back then.

*** In case you don't know, Noccalula was an Indian Princess that lived around the falls way back when. One day she jumped from the falls to her death because she was forced to marry a man that she didn't love. She was so upset that she decided to take her life and end her problems. ***
To read more about Princess Noccalula click here and it will take you to the website.

This is the sign that you walk under as you climb down in the gorge to walk around. I was really scared actually that I might slip in fall but thankfully the rocks weren't wet so it was safe or safer than usual. (note..I was taking a serious chance going down there and being pregnant but I was EXTREMELY careful and walked slow.)

This is me standing inside the cavern/gorge, I'm not sure what you call it, but it's this HUGE space behind the falls. It was absolutely amazing to stand under there and think about how much earth was above you. It was actually a little scary at first! Unfortunately, there wasn't much water running over the falls but it was still really pretty.
This is the Princess Noccalula statue that is at the tops of the falls. (She wasn't actually that tall.)
Align CenterThis is Chase. Can you tell how BIG the caverns are? It was really cool to be down there!

Next Chase and I went rode the train and went to the zoo part of the park. First thing we saw was this doe. She was so sweet! She let us walk up to her and pet her. Some people were feeding her.
There was a whole deer habitat there. Lots of doe, yearlings and a few bucks.
Both of the bucks were inside the barn but we did get this picture. You can see the antlers of the other one behind him. I had never been that close to a deer before. They were so elegant and calm.
There was a purring/growling Canadian Lynx. It was actually quite funny! I could growl at it and it would talk to me or growl at me. haha! We have a video on our new video camera but it isn't compatible with Mac computer, which Chase has and the CD reader in my PC is broken so I can't download the software. Hopefully, one day we'll figure it out. I'm hoping we don't have to buy me a new computer.
Anyways, here is the last animal photo that I will share with you since this post is getting so long. This is a female lion. She is just chilling on that rock. She was REALLY BIG!! I wish she had been up and walking around but she was smart and staying in the shade.

All in all, we had a great day together! After the park we went into Gadsden to eat at Top O the River. It was such a good lunch and we were extremely full when we left.

Belly Post - 11 weeks

Today I am 11 weeks!! I'm almost done with my first trimester. I really can't wait! I haven't felt all that horribly but hopefully I'll feel even better during my second trimester.
Check it out...a little belly is starting to emerge from my tummy!!!!!!!!!! :0)
Can you tell I'm excited about that?

I have my next doctors appointment on the 27th. I get to hear the heartbeat with the Doppler. I can't wait to hear Brantley's heart beating away in my belly again. It will be so reassuring!!

I've started looking for cribs and other nursery furniture. Let me tell you, it's a bit overwhelming. We don't want to spend a fortune (which all the ones I like are, oops!) but I want a good crib that is sturdy and good quality. Hopefully, we will find a good compromise and all will be pleased.

I hope everyone is having wonderful day! Love you all!

Belly Post - 10 1/2 weeks

This is me at 10 1/2 weeks. I've been really bad lately at taking pictures and updating the Blog. Hopefully I'll get better soon and of course once we get into putting the nursery together y'all will see lots of updates.

11 weeks picture coming right up...

4th of July

On the 4th, Chase and I went down to Lake Jordan to spend the day with my parents and some of my other family. We had a great time! Marley got to go swimming, but she didn't really like it all that much. I think if she had an opportunity to swim more often she might decide she likes it. We'll probably never know because I don't think we'll be taking her on long car rides anymore. She tends to get car sick and then she is just pitiful.
Here we are out floating on the lake.
Marley did so well just sitting in our laps. She for sure wasn't going to jump off the floats into the water on her own.
I wish our family had a lake house because I absolutely LOVE the lake. I grew up going to the lake and I would love for Brantley to do the same.
We really did have a great time!
Happy Birthday America!!

It's taken me forever to get these pictures off our new video camera so that's the reason for the delay. Oops!

Marley Anne

Yesterday I took Marley to PetSmart to get her bath, haircut and all that jazz. She looks so cute and smells much better for the time being. She turned 11 months yesterday! I can't believe she is almost a year now.
She loves me and I love her!
We were playing on the couch yesterday while I was trying to take pictures of her and of course she was being a stinker and wouldn't look at the camera at first. Anyways, she is full grown now and full of personality. We LOVE her!

Belly Post - 7 weeks and 8 weeks

7 weeks
Sorry this one is bare belly, but it's the only one I took that week. Still not showing but my pants are getting tighter and tighter. Yay!

8 weeks
There's a little more tummy poking out in this one. It might have just been bloat but I like to think that it's baby belly. I still have it now so that's good. I'll be taking my 9 week picture tomorrow and posting that one soon.

Baby Brantley is growing a lot. He/she is now making me sick. Yuck! I really don't like this part of pregnancy but I LOVE our little baby, even if it is making my sick. The nausea comes and goes in waves but yesterday it was pretty much all day. Oh yuck! Hopefully this won't last too much longer.
